The legacy of the Stewart’s Point Woodworks lumber mill at Richardson Ranch is an integral part of our history. Beginning with Tom Falk, and Harold Richardson a single jack circular sawmill. Today we operate a stationary, modern lumber mill that produces high-quality sustainable wood products.
As part of our ongoing efforts towards conservation, we selectively harvest timber from our timberlands and mill high-grade lumber from the wood. This process allows our clients to source the highest quality of lumber while still protecting our vulnerable ecosystems.
We also ensure that the less desirable wood is never wasted by either using it for fencing, posts, and siding for our ranch buildings, or by sending it to our Tigercat 6050 Carbonator, which uses a high velocity of air to over oxygenate the fire and decrease smoke particles. This powerful process significantly reduces air emissions in comparison to traditional incinerators and creates temperatures exceeding 1800F, resulting in extremely fine, and mineral-rich charcoal. The charcoal is then made into compost and added back to the soil which helps to retain moisture in the forest floor, and our rangelands. This process contributes to Richardson Ranch’s sustainable forestry practices.
